From the registers
Many people contact us at St Botolph’s as part of their family history research. Only Registers still in use are kept in church. Our archives are held for us by the Corporation of London where you will find registers of baptism, marriages and deaths.
Some 2500 reinternments took place in the last 30 years following the clearing of the churchyard 1965 the redevelopment of the crypt for the homeless project from the 1970s-1990s. The remains were buried in the City of London Cemetery.
A fascinating project is underway to key tag the entire contents of the Parish Clerks’ Memoranda from St Botolph’s Church in Aldgate (1583-1625). Interesting excerpts are being posted here: Rescript
